Who do you photograph? People! I specialize in personal branding, high school seniors, dating profiles, and individual portraits. I also photograph schools, take on special, editorial, and creative projects, and families on a case-by-case basis. Have something different in mind? Ask me.
What’s your style? Relaxed, warm, creative, and people-focused. I love movement, spontaneous moments, interesting light, and natural expressions. I want your photographs to show your personality and tell your story.
I’m uncomfortable having my photo taken. Is that a problem? Not at all. I hear this all the time. We talk, move around, laugh, and take our time. I guide you when you need it and give you space when you don’t. You don’t need to know what to do in front of the camera. That’s my job.
Will you tell me what to do? Absolutely. I’ll guide you with movement, ideas, and direction without turning the session into a series of stiff poses. I also leave room for things to happen naturally. And I will never tell you to smile!
How long will our session last? Most sessions are approximately one hour, but plan to be together a little longer so we have time to meet, talk, and get settled without feeling rushed. Some sessions can be longer depending on what we want to accomplish. We’ll figure that out together beforehand.
Do you offer mini sessions? For my regular portrait sessions, I don’t. An hour gives us time to talk, move around, try different things, and relax into the experience. That time is an important part of how I work.
Where will we take the photos? We’ll choose the location together. I know many great outdoor locations in Western Massachusetts, but I’m always happy to explore somewhere new or photograph you in a place that has meaning for you. Indoor and studio sessions are also possible. Additional studio fees may apply.
What time of day do you photograph outdoors? Usually in the afternoon, starting approximately a couple of hours before sunset. Light is a big part of the look of my photographs. At that time of day it is softer, warmer, and especially flattering for portraits, so I plan outdoor sessions around the best light whenever possible.
What happens if the weather is bad? We may reschedule for rain, excessive heat, or excessive cold. New England weather changes quickly, so I often wait until the day of the session to make the final call. Clouds are absolutely fine. Overcast skies can give us beautiful light.
What should I wear? Wear something that looks like you and that you feel great in. I generally recommend avoiding large logos and extremely bright colors. After booking, I’ll send you more information, and I’m always happy to help with wardrobe choices.
Do we talk before the session? Yes, absolutely. I offer a complimentary consultation before you book so we can talk about what you need, your ideas, and whether I’m the right photographer for you. Once you book, we can talk as many times as necessary about location, clothing, timing, or anything else that helps us prepare.
When will I see my photos? You’ll receive your private online gallery within four weeks of our session.
Do I get to choose my photos? Yes. I carefully select and edit the strongest photographs from our session. You then choose your favorites based on the number included in your package, with the option to purchase additional images.
Do I receive digital photos? Yes. Your selected portraits are delivered as edited, high-resolution digital files, with color and black-and-white options.
Do you provide unedited photos? No. Unedited or RAW files are not available. The selection and editing of your photographs are an important part of the finished work I deliver.
What does the session fee cover? The time we spend taking photographs is only one part of the process. Before the session, there is communication, consultation, planning, location and styling guidance. Afterward, I spend many hours going through all of the photographs individually, selecting the strongest images, carefully editing them, and preparing your gallery. The session fee reflects the complete process and the time, experience, and attention that go into creating the finished photographs.
What is included in my session fee? Every standard portrait session includes: • Consultation and planning • Styling and location guidance • Your photo session • Professional selection and editing • A private online gallery • The number of high-resolution digital portraits included in your package • The option to purchase additional images and prints
Can I order prints? Yes. You can order professional-quality prints directly through your private gallery.
Can I print the photos myself? Yes, although I recommend using the professional lab connected to your gallery for the best quality.
Are there any additional costs? Depending on your session, additional costs may include extra digital portraits, prints, studio rental, travel, special location scouting, or expedited gallery delivery. Any additional costs will always be discussed ahead of time. No surprises.
What payment is required to book my session? If your session is more than seven days away, a 50% nonrefundable deposit is required to reserve your date and time. The remaining 50% is due no later than seven days before the session. If you are booking a session that is seven days away or less, the full session fee is due at the time of booking. All payments are nonrefundable. Your date is officially reserved once the required payment has been received.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule? I understand that plans sometimes change. If you need to reschedule, please let me know in writing at least 14 days before your session. Whatever amount you have already paid can be transferred to a new session date within six months, based on our mutual availability. If you cancel, reschedule, or do not attend your session with fewer than 14 days’ notice, the amount already paid is forfeited. If the session has been paid in full, this means the full session fee is nonrefundable. Of course, life happens. I make exceptions for illness, emergencies, or weather that makes the session impractical or unsafe. The same 14-day rescheduling policy applies to gifted or complimentary sessions. If one of those sessions is cancelled or rescheduled with fewer than 14 days’ notice, the session is forfeited.
