BECOMING
Becoming is a documentary and portrait photography project featuring older adults living in Amherst and neighboring towns.
I am fascinated by documenting the everyday life of ordinary people, of capturing through photography those moments that often go unnoticed but in fact are actually the building blocks of how we experience life.
I was an only child. I was with adults a lot and always found them very interesting. Growing up in italy, grandparents were always around - at friends’ houses, in the park, at the grocery store. I miss older people in my life.
I wanted to create an opportunity to see the aging process in a more positive light, and for members of the broader community to connect with older adults in an authentic context.
