I wanted something which did more than just provide a 'head shot'

I needed a photo that could be used on a professional website, and I knew that I wanted something which did more than just provide a 'head shot.' I wanted it to be professional but stylish - something that looked like me and what I felt inside. Isabella managed to capture that and to create images that were varied but all felt 'right'.

Whether you’re a fashionista or not, our goal is for you to feel at ease for your session. That being said, there are some best practices when it comes to choosing what to wear. On the one hand, your session isn’t about your outfit - it’s about YOU. On the other hand, what you’re wearing can either enhance or detract from us really seeing YOU. This post offers ideas for striking a balance that will lead to photos you’ll love. The most important thing is that you feel like yourself, so keep in mind that these are guidelines, not mandates.

Because of the pandemic I have only been offering sessions outdoors. We do live in a spectacular part of the world and we are incredibly lucky to have so so much space and beauty. I love the outdoors but it could be challenging when it comes to environmental or professional portraits. Working only outside pushed me even more to use my creativity in collaborating with my subjects. And why not bringing your rockstar office pink chair to a corn field at sunset for your session? 2020 has been quite the year. I like to know from the people I photograph a little bit about themselves, what they do and how the craziness of these last few months has affected them. Here is Jena’s story.

Reassured by the beauty of the ordinary

What a wonderful collaboration! I had the pleasure to photograph Alfie and his beautiful sculptures. Part of life in New England is making the most of the long summer days while they’re here. This sweet family of four did just that when we gathered at this beautiful location in Amherst for a family portrait session.

KHAMA’S Personal Branding Session

Khama is an Emergency Department Medical Director and Emergency Physician. She wrote an essay that was recently published by the Washington Post and needed a professional headshot. Because the photo was going to be used with an opinion piece, Khama wanted images of herself that were professional but also had a personal feel. We did a one-hour Personal Branding Photo Session which resulted in more than 25 images of Khama in a variety of outfits and backgrounds for her to use with her articles and any other platforms where she wants to be recognized.

In addition to the protests that occurred across the world in the wake of the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police, local artists channeled their grief and rage into a powerful new mural in Springfield, Massachusetts. As a photographer, I was honored to volunteer my time and services to document this project.
